Since 1997, the Warren Concert Band has offered scholarships to qualified high school musicians.
Several of our scholarship recipients have achieved excellence in their fields of performance through
leadership in school bands or performance in adult bands. In fact, some of the recipients have received
college scholarships, and/or have won professional music positions.
Our scholarship program is a memorial to Mary Lee Fitz, one of the founders of the Warren Concert Band, and is now named “The Mary Lee Fitz Warren Concert Band Student Scholarship Program. The purpose of our program is to provide monetary incentives to musically talented high school band members to be used for private instrumental instruction from a qualified teacher.” The award of scholarship money is based upon the completion of the application and recommendation forms as well as a competitive audition in April of each year. Through this program, we have awarded over $16,000 in scholarships to deserving high school students in this area.
Our goals are to encourage long-term involvement in performance of band music, and to make
students aware of the opportunity to continue performance after high school with a community
group, such as the Warren Concert Band.
Scholarship applicants must currently be in the ninth (9) through eleventh (11) grade. and must be
current members of their school band program. Please find the guidelines, application form, and all
reference/recommendation sheets necessary for completing the application, either on-line
( or with this packet. Please note that previous scholarship recipients from
this program are not eligible for these awards.
Please feel free to make additional copies as needed and note that all Application and Reference
forms are due by Friday, March 18, 2022. All applicants with complete applications will be
contacted with regard to being scheduled for an audition time on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 in
person at a location to be determined due to the restrictions placed on us because of the Covid
19 situation.
